Cost of Treatment

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

Cost of Treatment

It is hard to find a comprehensive range of scar treatments on the NHS and indeed, few patients are now referred on to NHS scar teams due to funding regulations. However, if we feel that there is a possibility that you may get funding for treatment on the NHS, we are happy to assess you and provide a letter of support to help your general practitioner in referring you on. Most of our scar treatments are not covered by health insurance policies, so please check your documentation carefully. Payment is made in advance of a consultation and full details can be obtained by discussion with Kate on 07703 332622. We ask that you call in advance if you cannot keep your scheduled appointment. If you do need to cancel your appointment, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice. Wherever possible, we will attempt to reschedule your appointment for you or offer a refund. However, if you do not attend or cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment, you will be required to pay a cancellation fee of £100.00 within 7 days of the missed appointment. No future appointments will be timetabled until this fee has been received. We do not store credit card details nor do we share financial details with any third parties.

Treatment

The type of treatment required will depend upon the type of scar, its stage of healing and a number of other factors in your history such as prior treatments, other medical conditions and allergies.

Research

The Scar Team based at The Bristol Nuffield Hospital are passionate about research into the field of wound healing and scarring. We are keen to understand why angry scars develop

Support

As a patient with a significant scar, it can be difficult to know where to turn to for support in all its forms, from financial to patient groups.

Prevention

There is no guarantee that any one measure will prevent a scar from forming. This is despite some quite impressive claims made by the manufacturers of certain cosmetic products.
